Eating
So what’s different (and great!) with the food? Finnish & Scandinavian people are like real ‘nature children’ loving food pure and simple. Here’s what we mean.
Controls on food quality (like all our environmental type laws) are very strict. We do not allow bad stuff at home and same is true at Northern Lights – our home from home here in England!
The long cold winters makes our cooking big on giving you loads of strength and energy too – so its all going to be healthy and powerful stuff!
Traditional protein is game – not farmed but living free in nature – like snow grouse, reindeer and salmon from the countryside; cod & herring from the sea.
The long summer sunshine and cool nights bring out extra sweetness in our forest fruits (berries and stuff). For wintertime we dry fruits, veg nuts and seeds – all good stuff in modern British health shops that we have always been using because we’ve had to! Also we don’t really go for cakes and sweets. (All our sugar is turned to alcohol!)
Sweden, Norway and Finland in particular does not have a big commercial agricultural farming scene. The land is not so tame for many big fields like that – so there is not the high volume chemical-powered food growing you have in England.
Potatoes do grow well in northern soils and provide the main carb. along with traditional rye breads. Our rye breads are very healthy for fibre and nutrients and have a great big taste
